Larry Davis was a criminal who was born in New York on May 28, 1966. He changed his name to Adam Abdul Hakeem in 1989. He shot six New York police officers when they raided his sister’s Bronx apartment on November 19, 1986. The Police said that the raid was executed to question Davis about the killing of four suspected drug dealers. At trial, Larry Davis’s lawyers claimed that the raid was planned to murder him because of his knowledge about some corrupt police officails who were involved in the drug business. Larry Davis managed to escape the intensive search for 17 days with the help of family contacts and some friends. When the police found him he took several hostages but finally surrendered when the presence of reporters assured Davis that he would not be harmed. Davis was relieved of murder charges in the police shootout case and was also declared not guilty in the drug dealers killing case but was found guilty of weapon possession in the shootout case and was found guilty in another murder case.  Larry Davis was sentenced to 25 years of life in prison. Davis was stabbed to death in a fight with an inmate named Luis Rosado on February 21,2008.
