A virus is a computer program that copies itself and infects a computer without the conscent or knowledge of the person. The original virus modifies the copies or the copies modifies themselves, just like a metamorphic virus. A virus spreads from one computer to another when its host is taken to the uninfected computer, for example if a person sends it over a network or carries it on a removable medium like a floppy disk, Compact Disk, USB drive or through the Internet. Viruses spread to other computers by infecting files on a network file system or a file system that is accessed by another computer. Viruses are sometimes confused with computer worms and Trojan horses. A worm spreads itself to other computers without needing to be transferred as part of a host. A Trojan horse is a file that appears harmless until executed.Trojan horses do not insert their code into other computer files. Many personal computers are now connected to the Internet and to LAN, facilitating their spread. Viruses also take advantage of network services such as World Wide Web, Electronic-mail, and file sharing systems to spread, blurring the line between viruses and worms.

Computer viruses reproduce by making copies of itself in the computer’s memory, storage, or over a network. Some viruses are programmed to damage the computer by damaging programs, deleting files, or formatting the hard disk. Some are not designed to do any damage, but replicates them and make their presence known by presenting text, video, or audio messages. These Viruses can create problems for the computer user. They take up computer memory used by other programs. Due to this these viruses often cause problems and sometimes result in system crashes. There are many viruses operating on Internet today, and new viruses are created and discovered everyday.

The only solution to get rid of all these viruses is to get a good antivirus in your computer and get it fully updated and your computer will be free from all viruses.
